BankHoops Underclassman Camp
8/5/13

The future was now for members of the 2018, 2017 and 2016 classes in Michigan that attended the BankHoops Underclassman Mini Camp at the Cage in Swartz Creek, Saturday August 3rd. Campers went though 6 stations before lunch and played 3 games after lunch as well as heard from University of Detroit's all time leading scorer Rashad Phillips, who gave them valuable lessons for basketball and life.

While there was a good deal of more "named" players who we have seen play a lot, such as Myles Bridges, heading to Huntington Prep, Devon Daniels, Gage Kreski, Shae Somers, Kalebb Perry and Kyle Woodruff to name a few there was also a great deal of younger guys who have not been out and about on the circuit too much that played well on the day.

Some of the other 2016 guys who played well were Muskegon's Linwood Lee, Detroit Loyola's Dequan Powell, Grand River Prep's William Otole, Flint Southwestern's Steven Redmond, Okemos' Isaac Zin and Belleville's Trustian Napier. Some 2017 standouts include East Lansing's Xzavier Odom, Detroit Loyola's Elijah Smith, and Holt's Jaron Faulds.

Besides those players already mentioned guys who did well in both drills and games were Michael Peterson, 6'5 Rockford, 2016, who scored inside and out in games, while hitting 3s and controlling the glass, and also handling the ball. 5'10 2016 Drew Stavischeck of Holt, who showed great skills in games, controlling the tempo of games and showing great ball handling and passing skills while also being able to score. Also 6'9 2016 Austin Davis of Onsted, who has great size and a good touch around the basket. Moves well and has good skills for a young post.

As always, Steve Bell put together and great camp with good talent. I enjoyed working the camp and getting to work with some of the future stars of Michigan high school and AAU basketball,
